If you enjoy hiking, then I have something for you. The Black Forest offers a particularly beautiful view in summer.
The “Danube Sinkhole” hiking trail is located in Baden-Württemberg, near Tuttlingen. There’s a small parking area right at the trailhead for easy access. The hike is approximately 5 km long and takes about 90 minutes.
A narrow, winding forest path leads directly along the source of the Danube. It’s hard to believe that this small stream becomes the mighty Danube we know. In winter, flooding can occur, and the path is quite muddy. In summer, however, the Danube disappears underground, and you can walk directly in the riverbed. The return journey leads through an enchanting forest with stunning views.
Unfortunately, the surrounding area doesn’t offer much. Tuttlingen isn’t a pretty town, and apart from H&M, there’s nothing to see there.
I have a recommendation: Go to Möhringen and visit the Italian restaurant La Cascina. The food is authentic, just like in Italy, and the family will explain a lot about Italian cuisine while serving and taking your order.
